Basketball is a sport played in over 200 countries. It's played in two teams each team has 5 players. The main concept of the game is to shoot on a 10 feet high basket, the name comes from a peach basket because the ball was originally shooted into a peach basket. The game is played on a rectangular court played in 4 quarters in the NBA the play time for each quarter lasts 12 minutes that leads to 48 minutes play time. In colleges or schools the games are usually divided into two halves lasting 20 minutes total playing time of 40 minutes. At the end the team with the most points wins.

How Is Basketball Played

The Game starts with one player from each side doing a tip off ( jump ball) in the center of the court, whoever wins the tip off the game starts intensely fast. The players behind start dribbling and passing to get past defence. Defence can guard, steal, block shots, and rebound after a missed shot. Say If a player is doing illegal contact while blocking a shot, holding a player back, reaching for the ball, or pushing the other teams player these could lead to getting fouls if a player is given 5 or 6 fouls the player is out of the game.
